THE ART OF DYING : SONGS AND DOHAS OF KABIR & OTHER NIRGUNI POETS
In this lecture demonstration, which is part of JSLH cross-elective course co-taught with @Poulomi Das on “Living Traditions: Memory, Body, Performance and Technology”, Dr. Dipanjali will weave together songs and philosophy of the nirguni poet Kabir to present some overarching themes in the genre--criticism of social and religious hypocrisies, surrender to the divinity beyond form, impermanence and death, non-duality and love. Through her sharing on how these songs travel, Dr. Dipanjali will help us think through the ideas of memory and fluidity, tradition and modernity, impermanence and transience in the living tradition of Kabir.
Venue: Global Auditorium (T3-F57)
Date: 8th April
Time: 6:15 PM
Attendance in-person is compulsory for cross-elective students.
