Biography

Sakshi Chindaliya is an Assistant Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for the Jindal Fellowship Programme at Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, O.P. Jindal Global University. As a feminist geographer, she is interested in gender and sexuality studies, international development, spatial sensibilities, and (feminist) ethnographies of water and disasters. She was awarded the Sociology M.A. Scholarship to pursue a postgraduate degree in Gender and International Development from University of Warwick. Her postgraduate dissertation focuses on using ecofeminism as a lens to unpack the gendered nuances of the climate crisis and water scarcity in Maharashtra.

She has also been appointed as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for New Economics Studies (CNES). Some of the research projects she has led at the centre include “Kisan Ekjuta: Framer’s Protests”, “Virodh: Anganwadi in Protest”, “Kadal: Narratives from Fisherfolk in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry”, and “Banpani: Experiences of Sanitation Workers During Assam Floods”. She is a co-editor (alongside Prof. Deepanshu Mohan and Dr. Arun Kumar Kaushik) of a forthcoming book on feminist ethnographies conducted in informal spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic (under contract with Palgrave Macmillan). Her contributions also include a chapter in a forthcoming volume titled Exploring The Kisan Andolan: Agrarian Crisis, Identity, and Dissent (Routledge).
