Dr. Riddhi is an Anthropologist with research interests in market life, heritage tourism, and state-market dynamics. She completed her PhD in Anthropology from American University, Washington, DC. Prior to that, Riddhi has studied Sociology in Delhi University, completing her MA and M.Phil. from Delhi School of Economics.

Riddhi’s doctoral research explored how local tourism entrepreneurs in Agra experienced and responded to economic risks, shaping, through their everyday practices, the contours of local tourism. Riddhi is currently working on her book manuscript based on this research to examine the mutually constitutive relationship between the structures of tourism and quotidian entrepreneurial practices. She has published in journals, like Research in Economic Anthropology and the Journal of South Asian Studies.

Riddhi’s work experience spans India and the United States. She has taught in the University of Richmond and has nearly a decade’s experience of working in the development sector in India. Most recently, she has worked with the Population Foundation of India to develop an online teacher-training curriculum on adolescent reproductive and sexual health.
