Dr. Geeti Das is Assistant Professor of Political Science. Her work focuses on institutional change, information infrastructures, and gender and sexuality under globalization. Her work has been published in Sexuality Research & Social Policy and Ethnopolitics. She completed her PhD in Politics at The New School for Social Research in 2019. Her dissertation, From Mental Disorder to Emotional Data: Epistemic Power Over Sexual Politics, looked at how radical shifts in epistemology can mask the preservation of political order as elites reconfigure biomedical classification to limit the redistribution of power.

She has been a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ashoka University and a Teaching Fellow at The New School. Past courses taught include “Comparative Urban Politics”, “Global Gender and Sexuality”, “Gender Beyond the West”, and advanced thesis writing. At The New School, she was the recipient of the Dean’s Fellowship in Politics, the 2017 Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award, and the 2019 Frieda Wunderlich Memorial Award for Outstanding Dissertation by an International Student.

Past work outside academia includes serving as program coordinator for the New School’s undergraduate Global Studies Program for five years, working on curriculum development, planning, and evaluation, and research and editorial work for numerous NGOs in India working on human rights and food security.

She holds an MA from the New School for Social Research and a BA in Philosophy from Bryn Mawr College.
