Admissions Process

Imbibing the best practices from international universities, Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA) follows a holistic admission process. An applicant is evaluated on the basis of a combination of academic and non-academic performances. The selection process of B.A. (Hons.) Global Affairs, B.A. (Hons.) Political Science and B.A. (Hons.) Diplomacy and Foreign Policy involves evaluation based on an applicant’s personal statement, supplementary questions, Class X and XII scores, faculty interview, and JSAT/SAT/ACT                         

The online admission process for JSIA undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2023 is open. Please find the details of the selection process below.

Round 1 - Application Assessment

To start your application, Click here (Application landing page link) and register with an active email address. Your login details will be sent to this email account after due verification. All relevant information will be communicated to the applicant at this registered email address.

The applicant should provide all the information sought in the application, both in the mandatory and non-mandatory sections, as it will help in better evaluation.

 

Please keep scanned copies of the following documents handy for uploading.

  • Class X Board Scores or Equivalent and Class XII Board Scores or Equivalent (if completed)
  • Personal Statement/ Essay
  • Supplementary Application
  • Passport Size Photograph
  • Competitive exam score*

X Board and XII Board Scores

Applicants are required to upload their Grades/Scores of class 10th (or equivalent) and class 12th (or equivalent). If the applicant does not have their Class XII grades/scores at the time of applying, he/she may mention ‘Awaited’ in the relevant column. Please note

Personal Statement (At least 300 Words)

All applicants are required to submit a personal statement. This is a brief, reflective piece about themselves and their aspirations. However, it should not be specific to a programme. The personal statement shall be reviewed by the Admissions team and faculty.

Note: Please ensure that the personal statement is concise, readable PDF format and not password-protected.
If you apply for multiple programmes, your personal statement will be transferred to your new application.

Supplemental Questions

For each individual programme, applicants will be asked to answer at least three to 4 additional question so as to understand the aspirational goals and zeal to pursue a particular programme.

Note: If you apply for multiple programmes, you have a different set of supplemental questions for each programme.

Passport Size Photograph

Please upload the recent front-facing picture (2 x 2) with a neutral background.

Qualifying Examination score

Mention the relevant score (JSAT/ACT/SAT/) in the application form.

If an applicant is yet to appear for any qualifying examinations or is awaiting the examination results, he/she may check ‘Awaited’ in the relevant column.

The applicant can attach relevant documents (certificates, artwork, writing samples, letters of recommendation, etc.) for the extra-curricular section to substantiate the listed activities.

Click SUBMIT at the end, after you pay the application fee and complete the form.

An Online Application Number will be displayed upon successful submission of the form by making the payment. The applicant can use the ‘Application Number’ as a reference while communicating with the university. 

Applicants will be notified if they “Advanced to Round 2” or if their application has been “Rejected”.

Round 2 - Faculty Interview

Applicants who have advanced to Round 2 will have to follow the below-mentioned steps:

Applicants will be interviewed by a JSIA faculty member.

They are evaluated based on their communication skills, confidence, curiosity, clarity of expression, and nuanced thinking.

Some applicants may be asked to face a second interview. This does not mean that the applicant is a weak applicant. Sometimes faculty members request an additional opinion or want the applicant to speak to a faculty member aligned to the applicant’s interests.

Qualifying Examination (JSAT/ACT/SAT)

If the applicant has not appeared for the exams SAT, ACT then they will be required to complete the JSAT Examination.

Round 3 - Result Declaration

  • Applicants will be notified if they have ‘Advanced to Round 2’, have been ‘Rejected’, or ‘Placed on the Waitlist’. Applicants who have advanced to Round 3 will receive a ‘Provisional Offer of Admission’.
  • Successful applicants will have to accept or decline the offer. If an applicant does not respond, their application is dormant.
  • Successful applicants are required to pay the registration fee* of Rs. 1,15,000 to secure a seat.
  • Once the applicants’ class XII Boards results meet the required benchmarks, applicants will receive their ‘Final Offer of admissions’.
  • Applicants who would like to apply for scholarship should submit their documentation for consideration before June 2023.

*Refundable as per UGC guidelines

Waitlisted Applicants

Applicants may also be waitlisted depending on their results. Waitlisted applicants are requested to upload their XII results as soon as they are released. Such applicants may also be asked to do an additional interview. Waitlists will only be examined after 1 June 2023
