Sandeep Dikshit has more than ten years’ experience in mass politics elected for two consecutive terms (2004-2014) to the Lok Sabha from East Delhi. He led the team that pioneered the world’s first sub-national HDR of Madhya Pradesh in 1995. He has since then written over eight human development reports, five for Madhya Pradesh, and for Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Bundelkhand. His work in public policy has also involved planning and research work on income and employment, social sectors, poverty reduction and urban governance. Further, he has also been running the budget and governance centre for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for over ten years, working on budgets and with Government, inlcuding continous tracking of key sectors and key projects in agriculture, rural livelihoods, education, health, and forest issues. He has worked with the Planning Commission, ADB, Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), World Bank, AusAID, DfID, NABARD, UNDP, UNICEF, the Ford Foundation etc., and, Governments of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Assam, Odisha (then Orissa), and Rajasthan. Worked with NGOs : PRADAN, Seva Mandir, TERI, Deepalaya, Mobile Creche etc.
