Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability

The Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability (JSES) was established in the year 2020 with a vision to be a global leader in ushering a sustainable future for the world with innovative teaching, practice‑based learning and impact‑driven research. The world today faces an increasing array of environmental challenges that require greater levels of innovation and collaboration among industry, government, academia and the public at large.

The ongoing environmental crises are accompanied by lacunae in human resource development and relevant
research at various levels. JSES aims to fill this gap by combining theory and practice of environment & sustainability studies, research, outreach, advocacy and capacity building. The primary goal of JSES is to offer students a concentration in environment and sustainability studies with opportunities to explore how humans interact with their environment.

The B.A. (Hons.) and B.Sc. (Hons.) Environment & Sustainable Development programmes offered by JSES focuses on multifarious aspects including physical, biological, economic, philosophical, social and legal elements. The fully residential undergraduate degree programmes provides multiple perspectives empowering students to address challenging environment and sustainability issues in an interactive classroom environment. Besides deep‑diving theoretical frameworks, principles, concepts and application‑based engagement in the domain of environmental and sustainable development, the programme comprises class‑room discussions, lab research, field visits, case studies, industry internships, live projects and unique pedagogical approaches aimed at enhancing interaction, practical learning and curiosity among the students.

In the near future, JSES aims to offer postgraduate programmes in collaboration with top‑ranked overseas universities.
