Khushboo Khanna is an experienced architecture professional with a sound academic background, she worked for private architectural firms as an architect and a research assistant, before switching to teaching in 2021. Throughout this period, she has worked on projects ranging from interiors of small residences to designing a park around a natural drain and learning about how to not write a research paper. As part of her master’s thesis, she’s worked around the idea of ‘dying malls’ and if they can be revived. Other than this she has also assisted a senior with academic research on Women’s safety in the Last Mile Commute as part of their MSc Sustainable Urban Development, Oxford.

Teaching and Research Interests
  • Her research interests lie in the field of urban practice and have been engaged in learning more about the associated fields of geography, politics, and economics, ever since. She has decent problem-solving skills and obsessive organizational skills.  
  • 2021- Present : Assistant Professor, JBR Architecture College As a faculty in the School of Architecture, I assist, guide, teach and supervise graduate as well as post-graduate students in their academic curriculum. In the past 1 year, I have been given a myriad of opportunities and responsibilities varying from coordination to team leadership. A part of my job also involves working as a coordinator for the research cell of the department where we aim to inculcate research-based thinking and analysis in students as well as faculty.
  • 2020 – 2021 : Research Assistant and Architect, Z Axis Designs, Pvt. Ltd I worked as a research assistant under my supervisor to assist him with academic requirements for MSUD, Oxford University. As part of my role, I worked on a Dissertation on the Safety of women, research essays on Urban Policies, City Leadership, and Urban Governance. This process has enabled me to better understand the impacts of various urban actors on the fabric of the city. Also introduced me to the field of economics, geography, and governance. I also worked for a mix of government and private projects which gave me an opportunity to implement my theoretical knowledge in the field.
  • 2019 – 2019 : Architect, Archline Designs Pvt. Ltd Core work included assisting in the design and campus planning of healthcare projects: BDP, Aurangabad. Meenakshi Hospital, Bihar Other projects included retail interiors.
  • 2016 – 2017 : Junior Architect, Minagya Constructions Pvt. Ltd., Allahabad Worked as a junior architect on projects ranging from government residential quarters, retail interiors to renovation of Allahabad High Court with a team of conservation architects from INTACH

  • 2021 Planning temporariness: An introduction to time-space planning and unpacking its just-applications in and around Kolkata, SAGE peer review I co-authored this paper with one of my seniors where we explored the idea of ‘temporariness’ in urban areas of Kolkata.
