Biography

Dr. Nilakshi Yein is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in Serious Games, User Experience, and Interaction Design. She holds a Ph.D. in Design from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, where her award-winning research explored user experience and balance among the elderly through exergame interventions. With a master’s degree in Electronic Design and Technology, she effectively bridges technology with human-centered design.

Her research on exergame interventions for India’s elderly population reflects both innovation and social relevance. She is currently a faculty member at the Jindal School of Art and Architecture (JSSA) and has previously served as Assistant Professor Senior Scale at the School of Design, UPES. Her academic journey also includes a significant tenure at Amity School of Design (UX Design), where she held leadership roles such as Research Coordinator, NTCC Coordinator, and Stream Coordinator.

Dr. Yein’s research interests span Serious Games, Gerontechnology, AR/VR/XR, Gamified Learning, Usability, Elderly Fall Interventions, and Inclusive Design. She has chaired tracks at international conferences, including India HCI 2023, and actively contributes as a peer reviewer and author in reputed journals and conferences. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the prestigious IEA/Kingfar Award 2021 by the International Ergonomics Association.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes interactive, project-based, and collaborative learning. She inspires students to pursue empathy-driven, investigative design approaches and has taught courses including Serious Game Design, Physital Fundamentals, Multimodal system and Interface Design, Human Factors, Usability Engineering, User Data Analytics, and Design for Special Needs.

Through her commitment to impactful research and learner-centered teaching, Dr. Yein continues to advance the fields of design education and practice in India.
