WORK PROFILE | JIRICO – JINDAL INITIATIVE ON RESEARCH IN IP AND COMPETITION

JIRICO seeks to become a leading think-tank that engages in interdisciplinary and high impact work. This involves contributions from experts in the fields of IP law, competition law, economics and management. Further, JIRICO focuses on global developments, with a special emphasis on the Indian policy environment, which inform stakeholders about the issues in this niche area. JIRICO aims to provide a platform to facilitate dialogue among industry partners, policymakers, regulators, practitioners and academicians. Apart from the cutting-edge research, our activities include conferences, workshops for academics and practitioners, and international moot court competitions for students.

Cutting edge research in areas of high-technology innovation, intellectual property, challenges at the interface of patent rights and competition, and issues underlying the standardization processes in the ICT sector, particularly the role of SSOs and patent licensing terms.

Multiple high-level international conferences to disseminate JIRICO’s research and to provide a platform for international scholars and practitioners to share their work in related areas.

Consultation workshops involving leading academicians, policymakers and experts from the industry to discuss topical issues in a holistic and meaningful manner.

International moot court competitions to generate awareness among law students about issues in high-technology sectors which impact daily lives of people around the world in different ways.

RESEARCH FUNDING

Jindal Initiative on Research in IP and Competition (JIRICO) is an initiative of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). It focuses on initiating and complementing well-informed policy related deliberations that can result in concrete reforms. Towards this end, JIRICO seeks to become a leading think-tank that engages in interdisciplinary and high–impact work. This involves contributions from and collaboration with experts in the fields of intellectual property law, competition law, economics and management. Further, JIRICO focuses on global developments, with a special emphasis on the Indian policy environment, which can inform stakeholders about the issues in this niche area. JIRICO provides a unique platform to facilitate dialogue among industry partners, policymakers, regulators, practitioners and academicians. JIRICO is a non-partisan independent think-tank with above objectives and functions. JIRICO has complete autonomy to express its views and opinions. JIRICO has received research grant from Qualcomm Corporation to conduct conferences, workshops and pursue research.
