Inside JGU 2019 - Issue 2 (February)

Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences conducts workshops and seminar

A Seminar on ‘Leveraging Customer Insight to Outdo Competition’ was organised by the Centre for Leadership and Change of the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) on 13 February 2019. The speaker was Dr. Olesya Govorun, Senior Director, Customer Strategy – Global Marketing at Pfizer Essential Health (PEH). Dr. Govorun addressed a group of about 80 students, mainly from the business school sharing insights on digital transformation, taking care of the needs of the internal stakeholders, role of master and individual brands, and understanding segmentation in the context of Pfizer. 

The Centre for Victimology & Psychological Studies (CVPS) of the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences conducted a one-day workshop on “Emerging Perspectives in Victimology in South Asia” in association with the Victimology and Restorative Justice Program, Institute of Social Welfare & Research, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh on 25 February 2019. There were six delegates from the University of Bangladesh and nine speakers with over 60 participants. Five papers were presented at the workshop by the following JIBS researchers: 

  • Dr. Manjushree Palit, Assistant Professor & Deputy Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Family Therapy Intervention for Victims of Gender Based Violence’. 
  • Dr. Tithi Bhatnagar, Assistant Professor & Deputy Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Understanding Subjective Well-being in Helping Victims Cope’. 
  • Ms. Poulomi Bhadra, Assistant Professor & Assistant Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Forensic Victimology: A New Look at Victim Study’. 
  • Dr. Mohita Junnarkar, Assistant Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Victim Psychology in Courtroom’. 
  • Mr. Vipin Vijay Nair, Research Scholar, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Hidden Victimization: An Unexplored Research Domain’. 

 

In addition, the Centre for Leadership and Change (CLC), Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences conducted an interactive and activity based workshop on ‘How to Communicate like a Leader’ at JGU, on 27 February, 2019.

JIBS researchers also participated in three conferences:

  • Mr. Vipin Vijay Nair, Research Scholar, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘Pornography Blackout in India: Best practice to Curb a Nationwide Addiction?’ in the 41st All India Criminology Conference from 1st to 3rd February, 2019, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. 
  • Dr. Manjushree Palit, Assistant Professor & Deputy Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences along with Ms. Karishma, Research Scholar at Jindal Institute of Behavioral Sciences attended a workshop and conference on ‘Improving Mental Health and Well-being of Communities: International Training on Skill Development for Diagnosis and Management of Mental Illness using Digital Technology’ from 7th to 9th February, 2019 at Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur. The conference focused on emerging trends in mental health, modes of delivery of mental health care, challenges and needs, public involvement in mental health etc. 

  • Ms. Sweta Lakhani, Research and Teaching Fellow, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, presented a paper on ‘The Procedure of Environment Impact Assessment: Call for Sustainable Development’ at Kirit P. Mehta School of Law (KPMSOL) of SVKM’s NMIMS, Mumbai on 16th February, 2019.
