I. Seminar on Positive Parenting titled “Unleash your Child’s Potential for Holistic Growth”

 

 

A seminar on Positive Parenting titled “Unleash your Child’s Potential for Holistic Growth” was held at Tagore Auditorium, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak Campus on 8th February 2020 as a part of the community outreach programme of Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS).  Over 1600 parents participated in the seminar.

 

The session was delivered by Professor (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Principal Director of JIBS focusing on effective parent-child communication. He gave parents tips to identify the communication roadblocks between children and parents and ways to overcome them.  Parents participated in different related activities that were conducted to help them understand the psychology of children.

The talk also emphasized the need for proper parental training and counselling that would eventually help children acquire skills more effectively and rapidly.

ii. 5-Day Certificate Programme on “Leadership Development, Performance Enhancement, and Stress Management

 

A 5-Day Certificate Programme on “Leadership Development, Performance Enhancement, and Stress Management” for officers from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) was organised by JIBS in coordination with the Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education (JILDEE). 19 officers participated in the programme that took place from February 10-14.

 

The certificate course was intended to help the participants in making better choices at workplace and also help them understand the organisational interventions on the basis of the assessment results to optimize growth. During the programme, Prof (Dr.) Sahni delivered special talks on “Maximizing Human Potential” and “Stress Management and Performance Enhancement. Dr. Manjushree Palit, Associate Professor & Additional Director, JIBS also conducted a session on “The Art of Listening”.  Other faculty members from JIBS- Dr. Tithi Bhatnagar, Dr. Mohita Junnarkar and Dr. Pulkit Khanna- also conducted sessions on different topics during the programme.

iii. Conference on “Legal Reconciliation: Compromise or Concession?” organised by Ural State Law University and Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation

 

Dr. Sahni was invited as a Speaker in the conference on “Legal Reconciliation: Compromise or Concession?”, in his capacity as Member of Board of Directors,

 

International Society of Criminology and Director General India of International Forum on Crime and Criminal Law in the Global Era (IFCCLGE).

 

The conference was organised by Ural State Law University and Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation at Ekaterinburg, Russia on 13-14 February 2020.

 

During the Plenary discussion, Dr. Sahni elaborated on the Necessity for Psychological Satisfaction of the Victim through Alternative Justice System in India that offers the victim an opportunity they usually do not have via traditional adjudicatory criminal proceedings and also emphasized on giving greater encouragement and legislative sanctions in a more appropriate way to the existing Panchayat system.

Dr. Sahni  also moderated a  Joint Plenary session of the ISC and IFCCLGE with Dr. Alexandr Korobeev – Head of the Criminal Law and Criminology Department, Far Eastern Federal University, Vladivostok, Russia- that covered  pressing issues of global agenda in the context of the interrelation of Criminal Law and Criminology.

iv. 5-Day Certificate Programme on “Change Management” for the officers from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG)

 

A 5-Day Certificate Programme on “Change Management” for the officers from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) was organised by JIBS & JILDEE. The event took place from February 17-21. 21 Officers participated in the programme.

 

The major objective of this course was to impart knowledge about various leadership and management techniques and tools -particularly the observational skills- to the participants. The programme also helps participants to understand the organisational interventions on the basis of the assessment results to optimize growth.

V.  JIBS scholar bags 2nd prize in oral presentation at National Colloquium for the Sustainable Development of Forensic Science

 

Vipin Vijay Nair, Research Associate at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, O.P Jindal Global University was awarded second prize for his oral presentation titled “Forensic Victimology: The dire need in Indian Criminal Justice System” at All India Forensic Science Meet 2020.

 

 

 

The two-day conference held from February 22-23 was organised by Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi.

 

The theme of the conference was “National Colloquium for the Sustainable Development of Forensic Science.”  The conference saw presentations and lectures delivered by number of renowned scholars, forensic experts, lawyers and professionals from the field of Forensic Sciences and its allied disciplines.

 

Mr. Nair’s presentation focused on penal victimology- reflecting victim and offender as penal couple. The presentation recommended utilisation of various professionals from varied fields to contribute their expertise and assistance to forensic victimology.
