JGU-LSAC organises conference on “Educating the Future Lawyer: Role of the Law Schools and the Legal Profession in India”
JGU and the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) jointly organised a conference on “Educating the Future Lawyer: Role of the Law Schools and the Legal Profession in India” on 13 March 2020 at JGU.
The welcome address was delivered by Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice-Chancellor of JGU and introductory remarks were given by Professor Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Chief Proctor, JGU Director, Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies, JGLS. The inaugural address was delivered by Professor Kevin Washburn, Chair, LSAC; Member, LSAC Board of Trustees; N. William Hines Dean and Professor of Law, University of Iowa College of Law, USA and the special address was delivered by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Michael D. Wilson, Judge, Supreme Court of Hawaii, USA. The keynote address was given by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Matthew F. Cooper, Judge, New York County, Supreme Court, USA. Professor (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi addressed the audience on reflections on two decades of vice chancellorship. Professor (Dr.) S.G. Sreejith, Vice Dean, JGLS delivered vote of thanks.
The conference was followed by the Vice Chancellor’s round table discussion chaired by Professor (Dr.) Mahendra Pal Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor, National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata; Research Professor of Law, JGLS.
This was followed by three sessions: Training the 21st Century Lawyer; Litigation, Courts and the Future of Legal Practice; and the Corporate Bar, New Technologies and the Future of Legal Profession
