JGU delegation visits Australia to advance institutional and academic partnerships


A faculty delegation from JGU visited Australia from 3-7 March, 2019 to advance institutional and academic collaborations and partnerships. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between JGU and the University of Wollongong. The delegation was led by JGU Vice Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, and the visit was part of JGU’s larger vision to establish strong international collaborations with universities around the world. The Australian visit also dovetailed with ongoing celebrations of JGU’s tenth anniversary year and a decade of developing Australia-India linkages. 



Professor Kumar was accompanied by the following faculty members from JGU: Professor Tom Goldstein, Dean, Jindal School of Journalism and Communication; Professor (Dr.) Ashish Bharadwaj, Dean, Jindal School of Banking and Finance; Professor (Dr.) Mohan Kumar, Vice Dean, Jindal School of International Affairs; Professor (Dr.) Saloni Khanderia, Associate Professor, Jindal Global Law School; and Professor (Dr.) Laknath Jayasinghe, Vice Dean, Jindal Global Business School. 



During the visit, JGU initiated strong engagements with major universities in the Australian states of Victoria and New South Wales.  Discussions were also initiated with other institutions to explore full-fledged collaborations. The delegation met senior representatives from the following nine Australian universities: Macquarie University (MQ), Sydney; University of Wollongong (UoW), Wollongong; University of Sydney (USYD), Sydney; University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney; University of Technology (UTS), Sydney; Western Sydney University (WSU), Sydney; La Trobe University, Melbourne; Deakin University, Melbourne; and Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne.


In addition, the delegation also met with the Chairman and CEO of Wollongong Coal Ltd. (WCL), a recent acquisition of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with WCL that enables experiential learning opportunities and internships for JGU students.
