Introduction

The Center ’s objective is to lead research in the area of intellectual property, open-source and technology law. In particular, the members of the Center focus their research on new and evolving areas such as patent prosecution, technology transfer, patent protection in the pharmaceutical and software industry, trademark protection to non-standard marks, development of copyright law in the digital era, protection for community rights and indigenous know how as well as alternatives to traditional forms of IP protection and open science understandings. The Center encourages collaborative work with an interdisciplinary approach, the use of economic analysis and empirical methods to resolve complex social problems.

    Patent law, policy and practice, biotechnology, biodiversity law, pharmaceutical law, economic analysis of the high-technology sector.\
  • Trademark law and practice, domain names and cyber regulations, non-standard marks, personality rights and privacy law.
  • Digital copyright law, media and entertainment law, design protection, information technology law, internet law.
  • Non-traditional forms of intellectual property rights – traditional knowledge, geographic indications, folklore etc.
  • Alternatives to Intellectual Property: Open source, creative commons, copyleft.
