Sujata Newton is a TRIP Fellow and Academic Tutor at JGLS. She completed her B.A LL.B from Karnataka State Law University in 2019 and went on to pursue her LL.M in Corporate Law and Financial Policy from JGLS. During her undergrad, she headed the moot court committee and the editorial at her college. Following her interest in socio-legal issues and constitutional jurisprudence, she wrote her post-graduate thesis in the same area. After graduating from JGU she held a position as a legal editor at SCC Online and EBC Publishing.
Her primary areas of interest are Human Rights Law, Cyber Law, Comparative Business Laws, International Arbitration and Constitutional Law. Apart from that, she holds keen interest in areas of criminal psychology, world history, politics, and public international policy. She has pursued notable internships working with NGOs and lawyers in the remote areas of north-east India, working extensively for women’s’ rights and conducting awareness campaigns against domestic violence and sexual harassment of young girls.
Sujata comes from a military background and is an avid reader of non-fiction historical and political pieces as well as of true crime novels. She is an animal lover and volunteers at animal shelters.
