Prof. Julie Roy graduated with a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from National Law University, Jodhpur in 2014 with a specialization in Business Law, and was ranked 2nd in the B.A. stream. She pursued the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) programme at Somerville College, University of Oxford (2017-2018), focusing on corporate and commercial laws. She received the Alice Horsman Scholarship granted by Somerville College in the summer of 2018 to travel to Yunnan province in China, post which she was awarded a TEFL certification.
Julie has over four and half years of experience working as an M&A lawyer at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (New Delhi) and at Khaitan & Co. (Mumbai). During her time as a corporate lawyer, she represented marquee clients including various international private equity players and worked on PE and M&A deals.
Her research interests lie in the area of takeover law, financial regulation and corporate governance. Outside of work, her interests include distance running, and she has participated at popular running events including the Tata Mumbai Marathon. She also enjoys reading feminist literature and writing fiction.
