Prof. (Dr.) Albeena Shakil is Professor of English Studies at the Jindal Global Law School. She teaches English; Law, Gender and Society and electives on Literary Theory and Postcolonial Studies. She is the author of Understanding the Novel: A Theoretical Overview, 2015 and is completing work on another book manuscript tentatively titled Ambidextrous Narratives: Neoliberalism, Middle Classes and the English Novel in India. She has edited two volumes of Summerhill: IIAS Review, an inter-disciplinary bi-annual review journal with focus on the themes of ‘Violence’ and ‘Locations,’ respectively, and is in the process of co-editing a volume of the Jindal Global Law Review on Women, Law and South Asia, and two other volumes on Spheres of Injustice and Interrogating English Studies in India. She has published extensively in prestigious journals such as the Economic Political Weekly among others. Alongside literature and theory, her research interests also lie in gender issues and women’s rights. Prof. Shakil has been contributing immensely as a member of the Committee on Gender Sensitization against Sexual Harassment (COGSASH) at JGU, the Academic Review Board (ARB) of JGLS and the Examinations Appeals Committee (EAC) of JGLS.
