Prof. Amrita Sharma has also contributed to independent research initiatives on the state of agriculture in India, with special emphasis on the widespread farmer suicides in Maharashtra and Punjab. Her M Phil research examined the questions of capital and primitive accumulation within the Marxist literature. Her current research examines processes of development and sovereignty in Kashmir which animates debates about politics and economy at the margins while interrogating the practices that create a frontier.
