Student Spotlight : JGLS team among only 12 teams globally to advance to oral rounds at Herbert Smith Freehills Competition

 

 

The JGLS team comprising Deepanshu Poddar (JGLS ‘20), Anirban Chanda (JGLS ‘21), Anujay Shrivastava (JGLS ‘20) and Jaibir Singh Bindra (JGLS ‘20), was also one of only two Indian teams to qualify to the Quarterfinals of the World Rounds at the Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot 2019. The team also bagged the King’s College London Herbert Smith Freehills Scholarship for the overall best memorial submission.  This is the third time that JGLS has won the HSF Scholarship previously winning it in 2016 and 2018.

 

JGLS student receives two prestigious awards

 

 

  

Vaibhavi Dwivedi (JGLS ‘19) has been awarded the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship and the East-West Center Endowed and Named Scholarship to pursue a graduate degree in Environmental Management at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. The two prestigious awards cover tuition fee and accommodation in addition to providing for a monthly stipend and a lump sum monetary prize for the graduate degree.  

  

JGBS student receives scholarship award

 

 

Shresth Gupta (JGBS ‘15) has been awarded a scholarship from the Nottingham Trent University, UK to attend the MSc programme in International Business. During his time at JGU, Shresth served as President of JGBS Student Council for the academic year 2018-19. 

 

JGLS team recognised as 12th best in the world

  

  

The JGLS team which participated in the Nelson Mandela UN World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, held at Palais des Nations, Geneva has been recognised as the 12th best team in the world finals. The team also met Justice Albie Sachs, former judge on the Constitutional Court of South Africa.

 

Dr. Vinay Sharma named All-Rounder Foreign Student at Zhejiang University

 

 

Dr. Vinay Sharma, alumnus of JGLS 2014, received the title of the All-Rounder Foreign Student at Guanghua Law School, Zhejiang University. Dr. Sharma delivered the valedictory speech on behalf of all foreign students. He completed his Doctor of Juridical Science from Guanghua Law School in June 2019. His thesis was titled, Role of Judicial Transparency in Building a Rule of Law Society: A Comparative Study between India and China.
