Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) finished as Grand Finalists at the 5th Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Australia hosted by Deakin Law School (in association with Allens Linklaters and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators).
The team consisted of Aman Raj Singh Bajwa (17 JGLS), Raghav Sengupta (18 JGLS), and Mayannk Sharma (20 JGLS).
Apart from finishing as the Runners-Up in the competition, the team also received an ‘Honourable Mention’ for its written submissions on behalf of the Claimant.
This happens to be the first instance where an Indian team has progressed so far in the tournament and managed to secure a spot in the Final Round. The JGLS team was part of the Indian contingent that included participating universities from NLIU-Bhopal, RGNUL-Patiala, GLC Mumbai, and Christ University Bangalore, to name a few.
The JGLS team finished 2nd out of 43 competing teams from 22 countries, including the UK, Australia, and South Africa, narrowly losing out to the University of New South Wales, Australia in the Grand Finals.
This achievement pleasantly coincides with the recent launch of the landmark Jindal and Deakin Education Partnership between JGU and Deakin University, which aims to provide global opportunities for the students of JGU.
