The study explores how the source of eco-label certification (government vs. private) and trust in government shape consumer perceptions of credibility, quality, and expensiveness—and how these perceptions influence their willingness to pay a premium for eco-labeled products. Findings reveal that while consumers do not perceive significant differences between government and private eco-labels overall, under high trust in government, government-issued eco-labels are seen as more credible and higher in quality. The study contributes to the understanding of eco-label credibility, consumer trust, and sustainable consumption, offering valuable insights for policymakers and marketers.
