Biography

Sneha Kadyan is an experienced sociologist and qualitative researcher with over 13 years of academic teaching and research expertise.

Throughout her career, she specialized in investigating social and economic issues related to sustainability, with a particular focus on the cotton garment industry in India. Her research primarily explores how fair and alternative trade models operate within this sector, analyzing the impacts of sustainability standards on labor practices, worker conditions, and economic outcomes in garment factories.

Through extensive fieldwork, Sneha has developed deep insights into the social dynamics of cotton garment production, specifically how sustainability certifications and fair trade initiatives shape the livelihoods of workers, the functioning of factories, and the broader supply chain. Their work often highlights the complexities and contradictions of these ethical trade practices, particularly how they affect marginalized communities and contribute to broader discussions on global trade justice.

Sneha also possesses significant expertise in criminology and gender justice, with a specialized focus on violence against women in India. She has conducted critical research on the systemic factors contributing to gender-based violence, including the intersections of patriarchy, legal frameworks, and socio-economic disparities. Her work delves into the cultural and institutional barriers that prevent effective intervention, and she advocates for reforms that prioritize gender justice and victim support.

A passionate educator, she loves interacting with students and believes in the power of open communication and mentorship in shaping their academic journey and personal growth. Her leadership in these roles reflects her commitment to holistic and inclusive education.
