Vaibhav Chaudhary is a Lecturer at Jindal Global Business School, O.P. Jindal Global University. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Development and Urban Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where his doctoral research examines smart city development in India from the citizens' perspective. He holds an M.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and is a UGC NET-JRF (Economics) awardee.
His research interests span urban and development economics, smart cities, energy economics and transitions, sustainability, and competitiveness. Methodologically, he combines advanced econometric and quasi-experimental techniques with qualitative approaches such as TISM and content analysis, alongside energy systems modelling using MacroEnergy.jl.
Before joining JGBS, he interned with the Climate Policy Initiative, contributing to a sub-national assessment of sustainable agriculture across four Indian states.
His work has been published or accepted in ABDC-ranked journals. He received Best Paper Awards in 2025, including from GLOGIFT–IATM, and has presented his research at international conferences, including in Pittsburgh, USA. He has also mentored startups and served as a jury member for the Ministry of Textiles' Handloom Hackathon, held at IIT Delhi.
