Biography

Pramod Kumar Patnaik is an academician and researcher with an interdisciplinary background spanning industry practice and information systems research. He completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering, BPUT Odisha, followed by a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR). Following his academic journey, he gained valuable professional experience in the Energy sector. He began his career at Siemens Power, Gurgaon, where he worked as an Executive Design Engineer in the Steam Turbine Design Unit. In this role, he was involved in engineering design, technical evaluation, and coordination of large-scale power projects (OEM and Non-OEM Thermal power plants). He subsequently joined GE Power in Ahmedabad as a Project Engineer, where he contributed to project planning and execution, cross-functional coordination, vendor development, and localization of Steam Turbine parts. 

Driven by a growing interest in teaching and research, he transitioned from industry to academia. He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at BIT Raipur, where he taught undergraduate engineering courses. This exposure to academia helped shape his interest in research and higher education. Subsequently, he joined the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur as a Research Associate, where he worked closely on management and information systems research areas, gaining experience in empirical research, data analysis, and academic writing.

Thereafter, he completed his doctoral studies in Management Studies at IIT Roorkee, specializing in Information Systems. During his PhD, he published two research papers in ABDC-ranked (A) journals and conference papers. His PhD research focused on Rural e-governance, Marginalized communities, digital platforms, information and communication technology for development (ICT4D), and their role in shaping access, inclusion, and risk, particularly among marginalized user groups in developing country contexts. He aims to contribute meaningfully to research, teaching, and policy discussions on responsible and inclusive digital technologies.
