Dr. Paribhasha Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the area of General Management at Jindal Global Business School. She is a fellow from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Masters in Rural Development. Her doctoral research is in the area of gender and governance in urban India. She has received the best publication award for graduating doctoral student for the year 2017 at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, a Gold Medal for securing first position in Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development at the Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi and Sir Ratan Tata Trust Merit Scholarship. She has published in ABDC journals as well as presented scholarly papers in various national and international conferences. She has also worked as an editorial assistant for the journal Decision published by IIM Calcutta. Her current research interests lie in the area of public policy and governance, urban management, gender issues in management and corporate social responsibility.
Paribhasha has significant experience in the development sector. She worked with CAPART (under the aegis of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India) where she helped an NGO in planning, implementing and monitoring a tribal livelihood project in Jharkhand as part of the corporate social responsibility of Tata Steel. She conducted project appraisal for funding and monitoring of CAPART funded projects in the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. She worked as a Research Associate with J-PAL South Asia. As a teacher of Public Policy, my aim is to develop an understanding in the students about the concepts, theories and contemporary issues of Public Policy. Towards this end, I intend to employ an interactive method of teaching interspersed with using class lectures, power point presentations, case analysis and class room debates and discussions. Core readings provided will constitute the minimum reading requirement. My field of interest for teaching includes the following courses: Theories of Public Policy, Public Systems Management, Public Administration in India, Urban Environmental Issues and their management, Business, Government and Society, Gender and Governance and Research Methodology.
