Biography

Abhishek V. Sonavane is a Lecturer in the Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management area at Jindal Global Business School, O.P. Jindal Global University. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. He holds a PGDM from IIM Rohtak and a B.E. in Computer Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University.

His research interests include motivation, goal-orientation, and well-being in the workplace. His work has appeared in the Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science and the Academy of Management (AOM) Proceedings. He has presented his research at prominent conferences such as the AOM Annual Meeting (Boston 2023 and Copenhagen 2025) and the 1st Online Management Doctoral Colloquium (MDC) 2023 organized by SME IIT Jodhpur. He also presented a case study at the Ivey Case Conference, 2024 at IIM Nagpur. He was selected for and participated in doctoral consortia at AOM Chicago 2024 and the Shodh Samagam - Doctoral Colloquium 2025 at IIM Visakhapatnam.

Abhishek's academic service includes reviewing for the Academy of Management Annual Meeting (OB and SIM divisions) and serving as a Student Community Ambassador at AOM  2024. He has also volunteered for IIM Lucknow’s PhD admission team in 2023 and 2024. He completed a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Psychometrics and Scale Construction in Social Sciences” from IIM Ahmedabad.

Before academia, Abhishek worked for four years in corporate with India’s leading Public and Private sector banks. He was an Assistant Vice President at State Bank of India (SBI) and a Manager at ICICI Bank. He advised corporates on various transaction management services. He has received a Letter of Recognition for being a Top Performer in the “Transaction Banking Superbiz Campaign” from the Deputy Managing Director of SBI in 2018. He is an active member of the AOM and Consortium for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA).
