Mr. Ivan Stepanov is a doctoral candidate at the Law Faculty, Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen Nuremberg and at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Originally hailing from Novi Sad, Serbia, where he obtained his Bachelors in Law at the University of Privredna Akademija, Ivan holds two LLM degrees, one from the University of Amsterdam in international trade and investment law and one from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center in intellectual property (IP) and competition law. In addition to his academic career, Ivan practiced law in Serbia and interned at EUIPO’s International Cooperation and Legal Affairs Department in Alicante, Spain. Ivan’s research focuses on the interaction of international investment law and intellectual property and its consequent effects on pharmaceutical innovation. His broader research interest center around IP in the context of public international law, especially international economic law, IP and alternative dispute resolution and international IP policy making.

Anne MacGregor advises clients on EU competition law and antitrust, regulatory and trade matters, with a focus on the chemical distribution, commodities packaging, energy, mining, pharmaceuticals, software, and transport and logistics industries. She has nearly two decades of experience representing leading multinational companies and advising hedge funds in complex cross-border transactions relating to merger control filings and antitrust clearance.

She is recognized as a leading lawyer in Brussels for competition/European law in the 2016 edition of Chambers Global, where she is described by clients as “perceptive, incisive and politically astute” and noted for her “expertise in competition and EU regulatory and trade law.” She is also recognized in Chambers Europe 2016. Additionally, she was named among the top 100 women in antitrust in 2016 by Global Competition Review(GCR).

Ms. MacGregor is a regular contributor to antitrust and competition publications and she is a frequent speaker at industry events. She also tutors students in European competition law in the Master of Laws in International and European Law degree program at the Vrij Universitet Brussel. Prior to joining Dechert, Ms. MacGregor served as special counsel in the antitrust practice at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Her previous experience also includes serving as counsel at Baker & McKenzie and Linklaters, working as an associate at Shearman & Sterling and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and serving as legal counsel and head of the merger analysis team at MLex.

Roberto Grasso’s practice focuses on European and Italian antitrust and competition law, and extends to all aspects of EU law. He has extensive experience assisting international corporations in a wide range of industries, including high tech, oil and gas, manufacturing, transportation, investment banking and financial services. In the area of antitrust and competition law, Mr. Grasso provides counsel on EU and Italian legal issues, particularly on cases that intersect intellectual property and competition law.

He has strong experience representing companies in connection with international cartel investigations and parallel proceedings, abuse of dominance, merger control, and EU data protection cases. He has assisted clients in antitrust litigation proceedings before the European and Italian Courts.In the area of international trade, export control and economic sanctions, Mr. Grasso has assisted companies and trade associations involved in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the European Commission and the EU General Court.

He regularly advises on European sanctions programs and their enforcement at national level, as well as on issues related to export control.Prior to joining WilmerHale, Mr. Grasso was an associate in both the antitrust, competition and trade and energy groups of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Rome. Mr. Grasso trained with the Legal Service in the Competition Unit of the European Commission in Brussels, and the Legal Service of the Italian Competition Authority in Rome.
