Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS)\u00a0welcomed the new batch of master\u2019s students on the campus. The students are part of institute\u2019s existing M.A.\/M.Sc. Applied Psychology and two new courses, Masters in Rehabilitation Sciences and\u00a0M.Sc. Psychosocial Rehabilitation, both of which have been approved by the\u00a0Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).<\/p>\n

This prestigious recognition from RCI marks JIBS as one of the pioneering behavioural sciences\u2019 institute in the country offering licensed courses in psychosocial rehabilitation and rehabilitation sciences with a distinctive emphasis on both physical and developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n

JIBS held an orientation for incoming students to familiarise them with their course work, curriculum, and the university and institute, as well as all facilities and opportunities available to them.<\/p>\n

During the orientation, students got an opportunity to listen to Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder and Principal Director of JIBS, about his experience in the field of psychology and behavioural sciences. They also got an opportunity to interact with him.<\/p>\n

Dr.\u00a0Pulkit Khanna,\u00a0Executive Dean, JIBS, also interacted with the new students and welcomed them to JIBS. She reminded them of the hard work that needs to be put in during their time here, while also urging them to take full advantage of opportunities available at the institute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dr. G. Anupama, IAS, delivers Commencement Lecture<\/strong><\/h5>\n

JIBS held its commencement lecture for the incoming batches of all postgraduate programmes on August 4. The commencement lecture was delivered by Dr. G. Anupama, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Haryana.<\/p>\n

Dr. Anupama, drawing from her long experience in public sphere, shared her thoughts on various aspects of mental health and its importance at individual and social level. She spoke about various ways in which students can contribute to the cause of mental wellness in society. She implored students to follow in their passion, while keeping in view their responsibilities towards society. Dr. Anupama also expressed her desire for collaboration between JIBS and the Government of Haryana in the fields of rehabilitation and mental health.<\/p>\n

Swiss High Commission delegation visits JIBS<\/b><\/h5>\n

Delegates from the Swiss High Commission at New Delhi visited JIBS on August 4. Colonel Fran\u00e7ois Garraux, Defence Attach\u00e9 to Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Swiss High Commission, and Ms. Fanny Dietschi were welcomed by Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Founder and Principal Director, JIBS; Dr. Pulkit Khanna, Executive Dean, JIBS; Dr. Neha Khetrapal, Associate Professor, JIBS; and Ms. Samreen Chhabra. The informal meeting and interactions were facilitated by Dr. Khetrapal.<\/p>\n

The Swiss delegates interacted with faculty members of JIBS and the postgraduate students from the community psychology track. Topics of mutual interest were explored that included discussions on Switzerland\u2019s role in peacekeeping, narratives of peace, role of women in peacekeeping and the significance of geographies for peace initiatives. The current \u2018peace research portfolio\u2019 at JIBS was shared by Dr. Khetrapal. The students also had the opportunity to share their thoughts on applying classroom learning for addressing topics of import for the betterment of communities. The discussions were followed by a reception at Dr. Sahni\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Professor of Eminence (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni, Principal Director of JIBS and Vice-President of World Society of Victimology (WSV), conducted\u00a0Teacher Training Programmes (TTPs) across different cities of India. The TTPs were conducted in Tripura, Jaipur, Udaipur and Ludhiana. The sessions, themed around \u2018Emotional Well-being and Stress Management\u2019, were attended by school principals, teachers and counsellors.<\/p>\n

More than 1,300 educators from schools across these regions attended the sessions that highlighted the importance of maintaining a right work-life balance by incorporating stress management techniques like mindfulness, meditation and physical exercise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

JIBS hosted a Distinguished Public Lecture on \u2018Strengthening Healthcare in the Community: A Holistic Perspective\u2019 on August 23. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Gupta, IAS, Additional Secretary to the Hon\u2019ble President of India.<\/p>\n

Drawing from his extensive and distinguished experience in public service, Dr. Gupta pointed towards the significance of efficient healthcare in a society. He particularly noted its impact on the different aspects of society ranging from social, economic and political. He also spoke about the role of psychologists in the healthcare sector and the role they have to play in coming times.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rakesh Gupta is an IAS officer belonging to Haryana Cadre. An alumni of prestigious institutions like IIT Delhi, London School Economics and John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Heath, he is an experienced civil servant and research scholar bringing academia and governance together in the key development areas of public health, maternal and child health, school education and e-governance. Among the initiatives he spearheaded was the national flagship programme of the Prime Minister of India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the girl child, educate the girl child).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dr. Tithi Bhatnagar, Associate Professor\u00a0at JIBS, participated in the 21st Annual Conference of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) held between August 21 and 25.<\/p>\n

She presented a paper entitled \u2018The Effect of Psychological Capital and Wisdom on Academic Adjustment of Undergraduate Students\u2019 at the conference. Dr. Tithi was also the Session Chair for the Parallel Session on \u2018Student Quality of Life and Well-Being I\u2019 at the conference.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
