SDG 5 Gender Equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Women empowerment is one of the major objectives of JGU. The female to male ratio for students enrolled in the university is 49:51. Also, it is noteworthy that over 55% of the full-time faculty members in JGU are women and 40% of the academic leadership positions are held by women faculty members across all the schools of JGU. The University has been constantly engaging with the local community to promote female education and empowerment through employment of women at the University from the very beginning. JGU has also established childcare facilities on campus and promotes workplace flexibility. The University is also participating in national campaigns for preventing violence against women, while it has also committed to reporting on the number of sexual assaults that have taken place at the institution. The Office of the Committee on Gender Sensitization Against Sexual Harassment (COGSASH) regularly provides gender sensitization training to all its employees and students.
