Each academic year, the GLASS invites two distinguished practioners or scholars in the field of law, sexuality and public policy. These speakers deliver the GLASS Bi-Annual Public Distinguished Lecture on the issues which are at the cutting edge of debate in the field.
On 13th of March, 2014, Shohini Ghosh delivered the GLASS Bi- Annual Public Distinguished lecture titled "The Prohibition and Production of Pornography." Professor Ghosh is the Sajjad Zaheer Professor of Media at the AJK Mass Communication Research Center.
Prof. Ghosh is the co-founder of Mediastorm Collective, India's first all women documentary production collective which received the Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Work among Women Media Professionals in 1992. Prof. Ghosh writes exclusively on cinema, contemporary media, speech and censorship, documentary and issues of gender and sexuality.
On 8th November, 2013, Sunil Babu Pant delivered the GLASS Bi- Annual Public Distinguished Lecture titled, “Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court of Nepal: A Litigant’s Perspective on Sexual Minority Litigation”
Sunil Babu Pant is the founder of the Blue Diamond Society and a former Member of Parliament in Nepal. The Blue Diamond Society represents the interests of the LGBT and the HIV/AIDS communities in Nepal. the In this lecture, Pant shared with the audiences the legal arguments and strategies employed in the landmark case of Pant v. Nepal in which the Nepalese Supreme Court granted legal recognition to the third gender in Nepal. Pant was the chief litigant in this landmark case.
