A single-judge bench of the Bombay High Court denied a bail application of a man accused of impregnating his seventeen-year-old neighbour, forcing her to abort the foetus and disposing the foetus. The man was in an illicit relationship with his minor neighbour. The statement of the survivor revealed that the applicant forced himself on her and then forced her to consume the pills resulting in the abortion. He was charged for the offences punishable under Sections 376(2)(j)(n), 315, 318 of the Indian Penal Code r/w Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act 2012. The court noted that bail had been denied twice earlier and stated that the seriousness of the offence calls for denying bail a third time. (CRIMINAL BAIL APPLICATION NO. 4258 OF 2021)
