“A Child has the Right to Know and Meet his Parents, including the Father during the Pendency of the Custody Case”: Allahabad High Court

By Kawanpreet Kaur

The Allahabad High Court held that it is the right of the child to know and meet his parents, which includes the father during the pendency of the custody case in trial court. The Court dismissed the appeal of the mother seeking to quash the order of the Family Court allowing the father to meet his child. It held that it is in the best interest of the child to know his father during the pendency of the custody case in the trial court. It further observed that granting visitation rights to the father does not alter the custody of the child. Accordingly, the Court upheld the order of the Family Court. (Priyanka Agarwal v.
