“Role of a Survivor’s Counsel in POCSO Cases”.
The CRC, organized a lecture on “Role of a Survivor’s Counsel in POCSO Cases”, the lecture was delivered by Ms. Arushi Anthwal, the Legal Counsel and Manager, Survivor Support Program at Counsel to Secure Justice, a nonprofit working on access to justice for child survivors of sexual abuse, children in conflict with the law, and child protection systems strengthening with a focus on using restorative approaches. Ms. Arushi is an independent legal practitioner and has more than nine years of experience in litigating in courts across Delhi-NCR. Her work focuses on women and child rights through litigation, advocacy, and capacity building. She was previously engaged as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice.
The lecture focused on the need for and role of a Survivor’s counsel in POCSO cases. It gave an introduction to the reporting process in POCSO cases and how lawyers can best advocate for the survivor’s rights at each step of the process.
