“There occurred a manifest error/apparent and it requires correction”: Supreme Court

By Praneetha Shivaprasad

A division bench of the Supreme Court corrected an earlier order of the court in a review petition. In an order dated 15.2.2019, the earlier bench stated that the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2001 would be used to determine juvenility. Upon review, the bench noted that only Rule 12 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2007 along with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 may be used to determine the age of the child. The court rectified the earlier order to reflect the same. (REVIEW PETITION (CRIMINAL) Diary No(s). 38282/2019)
