“Eve teasing must be curbed, could lead to other serious offences”: Bombay High Court

By Praneetha Shivaprasad

A single-judge bench of the Bombay High Court commented that eve teasing of young girls must be curbed since it can lead to more serious offences when deciding the appeals in a murder case. In this case, 3 men were convicted of murdering a man who confronted them for eve-teasing a girl in the neighbourhood. The high court upheld the conviction under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code and sentence of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court noted that the deceased lost his life for attempting to correct the men for eve-teasing. (CRIMINAL APPEAL NO. 22 OF 2015 ).
