Inside JGU 2019 - Issue 10 (October)

The Centre for India-China Studies (CICS) celebrated its fifth anniversary from 19 October 2019 to 24 October 2019 at NTH complex, New Delhi and JGU.

On 19th October, the fifth anniversary celebration began with the inauguration of the ‘India-China Artists Dialogue & Art Exhibition 2019’ at NTH complex in New
Delhi. Mr. Li Bijian, Minister,
People’s Republic of China, Embassy in India and Madam Han Dongmei, People’s Republic of China, Embassy in India were the chief guests.

On 20th October, CICS organised a culture dialogue on “Gender Equality in India and China” at NTH complex in New Delhi.

On 22nd October, CICS organised the 36th India-China Lunch Talk on the “Beauty of Chinese Characters” by Ms. NIE Hui Deputy Director, the Centre of Plastic Arts at Chongqing University Art College and Dean of Liyi College, China.

On 23rd October, CICS celebrated its fifth anniversary and Chinese culture day. The guest address was given by H.E. Sun Weidong, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Republic of India. The introductory address was given by Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU which was attended by over 100 faculty members, students and staff members. Professor Wenjuan Zhang, Associate Professor and Executive Director, Centre for India-China Studies shared her experiences. The Fifth Anniversary Report of the Centre for India-China Studies was released.

This was followed by the Indian Ambassadors’ panel discussion on ‘Future of India-China Relationship’ chaired by Dr. Mohan Kumar, Professor and Vice-Dean (Global Initiatives and Institutional Building JSIA) and former Ambassador of India to France. The panellists were: Mr. Vijay Nambiar, Former Ambassador/High Commissioner of India to Algiers, Afghanistan, Malaysia, China and Pakistan, Former Permanent Representative at India’s UN Mission in New York; Mr. Anil Wadhwa, Distinguished Fellow, Vivekananda International Foundation & Former Ambassador of India to Italy, Poland, Oman and Thailand; Mr. Suresh Goel, Distinguished Fellow, Society for Policy Studies, Former Ambassador of India to Lao People’s Democratic Republic & Former Director General of Indian Council of Cultural Relations.

The centre also organised various cultural programmes on the same day.

On 24th October, the centre organised a distinguished public lecture on ‘From Access to Quality: The 70 Years’ efforts of People’s Republic of China in the Field of Education’.
