{"id":469,"date":"2017-03-27T04:59:25","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T04:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/?p=469"},"modified":"2019-11-28T11:45:50","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T11:45:50","slug":"if-my-coffee-mug-could-speak-by-hedwig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/2017\/03\/27\/if-my-coffee-mug-could-speak-by-hedwig\/","title":{"rendered":"If My Coffee Mug Could Speak &#8211; By Hedwig"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/tumblr_inline_oo1iqygxeU1un32nx_500.gif\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"470\" data-link=\"https:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/blog\/?attachment_id=470\" class=\"wp-image-470\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the tenth poem in a series of poems that explore what the commonplace objects in a student\u2019s life would say if they underwent an Enid Blyton-esque change overnight, and could speak.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long before my white had faded,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A simpler time when I was not yet jaded,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When my shining armour had not been traded<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a duller hue of motley grey;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A time when my insides weren\u2019t streaked with black,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when I sat snug and safe on a rack,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My torso gleaming with no cracks,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until I was whisked away;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To a faraway land of unknown adventure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where I met other coffee mugs \u2013 some with dentures,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some with coats of peasant red,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And others of sterling silver,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where my days began at the crack of dawn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I\u2019d find myself seated on the lawn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filled to the brim to keep away yawns,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My contents easily quiver;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For I tell them of the tales of yore<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of my father and forefathers and their folklore<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of how they bore beverages until sore \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I must adjust my monocle here,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For no matter the rust and wear and tear<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On this battered body, for want of care,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I shall dutifully serve until my share<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is done, and the dumpster awaits near.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the tenth poem in a series of poems that explore what the commonplace objects in a student\u2019s life would say if they underwent an Enid Blyton-esque change overnight, and could speak.
