Jindal Global University (JGU) campus in Sonipat, Haryana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nmain theme of the 2-day Conference is <em>Evolving Perspective in Victimology<\/em>\nand the various sessions will envisage different aspects of victimology by\nacademicians, government officials, lawyers, social workers, policy makers and\nstudents from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nseminar is being hosted by <strong>JIBS<\/strong> and <strong>JGU<\/strong> for the third time in a\nrow. Professor Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni, Principal Director, JIBS highlighted the\nsignificance of the conference, \u201cThe International Conference on Victim\nAssistance has provided a crucial platform over the years internationally for\nintellectual and research-based discussion in the field of victimology. Victim\nassistance is key in any criminal justice system. It is a high time that\njudiciary acknowledges victim assistance its due right and legislature take the\nonus to enforce a central legislature on victim assistance in India and\nobligate the legislation to be ratified and replicated in every state of\nIndia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nconference will be inaugurated by Mr Ravi Nair, Executive Director of South\nAsian Human Rights Documentation Centre (SAHRDC). Dignitaries present at the\nconference session will be Mr Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Additional Director\nGeneral of Police, Rajasthan Police, Dr. G.K. Goswami, Joint Director, CBI, New\nDelhi, Dr. P.M. Nair, IPS (Retd) among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ndelegates and presenters of the conference are affiliated to various national\nand international organisations and universities varying from professionals,\nacademicians and students involved in creating a platform for discussion on\nvictimology globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Victims\nof crime may suffer from physical, mental, emotional and financial harm, from\nwhich some may never recover. Victim assistance as a field of practice and\nstudy directs towards expanding knowledge of criminal victimisation and\napplying this knowledge to improve the condition of both individuals and\nsociety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsub-themes of the conference include: Criminal Justice System; Advances in\nVictimology; Violence Against Women; Sex, Gender and Sexuality; Voiceless\nVictims; Conflict, Oppression &amp; Secondary Victimization; Victim Assistance;\nModern Day Victimization<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About\nCentre for Victimology &amp; Psychological Studies (CVPS):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centre\nfor Victimology and Psychological Studies (CVPS) is a research centre that\nstudies various aspects of victim and offender psychology and aims to produce\nconstructive research towards holistic rehabilitation of victims. Other\nresearch work includes topics such as, euthanasia, death penalty, internet\ninfidelity etc. that deals with the interdependency between law and behavioural\nstudies. The Centre also works on understanding and incorporating the role of\nforensic science to administer better legal help and justice to victims. By\nunderstanding the psychological, sociological, cultural and legal aspects of\nvictimology, the centre propose suggestions for the legislature, policy makers\nand researchers to assist the victims in the best possible manner.
