New Delhi, 4 October\n2019: <\/strong> US-based Indiana\nUniversity Bloomington has conferred its Bicentennial Medal on O.P. Jindal\nGlobal University (JGU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. C. Raj Kumar.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bicentennial Medallion was presented by Professor Austen L. Parrish<\/strong>, Dean & James H. Rudy Professor of Law, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, together with Prof. Hannah Buxbaum, <\/strong>Vice President of International Affairs, Indiana University; John. E. Schiller Chair in Legal Ethics and Professor of Lawalong with Prof. (Dr.) Jayanth Krishnan, <\/strong>Milt and Judi Stewart Professor of Law, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Bloomington; Director, Milt and Judi Stewart Center on the Global Legal Profession <\/strong>at a special ceremony at JGU campus. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The citation of the Medal\nsays, \u201cIndiana University Bicentennial Medal is given during the Bicentennial\nCelebratory Year in recognition of distinguished and distinctive service in\nsupport of the mission of Indiana University\u201d.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his congratulatory letter, Prof. Michael A.\nMcRobbie, President, Indiana University<\/strong> said, \u201cIt is my very great pleasure\nthat you have been awarded the Indiana University Bicentennial Medal. It is\nawarded to individuals who have broadened the reach of Indiana University\naround the world. It is a recognition of your tremendous interdisciplinary and\nglobal collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Lauren Robel, Executive Vice President, Provost\nand Val Nolan Professor of Law<\/strong>\nsaid that she was honoured to witness the growth of O.P. Jindal Global\nUniversity since inception. In a message, she said, \u201cYour tireless dedication\nto the future and growth of your University has also benefited Indiana\nUniversity. We have been beneficiaries of our joint programmes, of students who\nhave come from Sonipat to Bloomington and the opportunities shown to students\nfrom Indiana University.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unique Bicentennial Medal is crafted from\nmaterials salvaged from bells which hung on the Bloomington campus for almost\n100 years. While presenting the medal, Prof. Austen Parrish, Dean and James\nH. Rudy Professor of Law <\/strong>said\u201cWe look forward to many more years of\nan outstanding partnership between our two institutions. Congratulations on\nthis well-deserved recognition.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his brief acceptance address, Prof. Raj Kumar<\/strong>\nsaid, \u201cI am truly humbled by this recognition and is a testament to the vision\nof our benefactor and founding Chancellor and the outstanding contribution of\nour faculty, students and staff of JGU. Over the last decade, the collaboration\nwith Indiana has achieved its goal and ambition to create knowledge and develop\nthe professional skills of our students by introducing them to a wide variety\nof graduate-level experiences within the U.S. educational system, while giving\nAmerican students first-hand interaction with the rapidly growing Indian\neconomy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 JGU\nand Indiana University’s renowned professional schools, namely: The Maurer\nSchool of Law, The Kelley School of Business and The School of Public and\nEnvironmental Affairs along with the Indiana University Centre on Philanthropy\nhave established fruitful collaboration over the past ten years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
