Jindal Global University Celebrates 8th Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Sonipat, 30th September<\/strong>: O. P. Jindal Global University completed eight years of its establishment on 30th September, 2017. H. E. Ms. Mariela Cruz Alvarez, Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica and Mr. Kewal Kumar Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development Government of India participated on the University Day celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr<strong>. Kewal Kumar Sharma<\/strong>, IAS,\nSecretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource\nDevelopment Government of India speaking on the occasion said, \u201cPrivate sector\nby itself, on sideline has been promoting absolutely outstanding institutions.\nThe recent years has seen a surge in the private sector to promote institutions\nof excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He lauded the vision and initiative of\nChancellor Mr. Naveen Jindal and Vice Chancellor, which have translated into\nreality, achieving great height in the short span of eight years. He said, \u201cThe\ninitiative demonstrated by private sector needs to be commended by us as\ncitizen as well by the government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Sharma also opined that as we\nencourage our students to do well in academics by \u201clearning the tools of\nexcellence\u201d, we also have to ensure that Universities produce \u201cglobal citizen,\nwho is conscious of global requirement, peace, contributing to others and compassionate\u201d\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H. E. Ms. <strong>Mariela Cruz Alvarez<\/strong>,\nAmbassador of the Republic of Costa Rica congratulating the University, spoke\nabout Costa Rica\u2019s focus on education, health care and environment. Its\nnoteworthy to mention that Costa Rica had decided to reallocate its resources\non health, education and environment instead of military. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quoting from Bhgwad Gita, Ms Alvarez said\nthat we as teachers our role is to ignite students\u2019 mind with larger sense of\npurpose and focus. World class Universities needs to transmit that passion and\nfocus in interactions with young minds. \u201cA person who is awake, not in denial\nand ready to give the very best, one who is proactive, motivated, vulnerable,\nfeel other people\u2019s suffering, open minded and sensitive\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on Costa Rica being a country\nwithout army, she said, \u201cBeing defenseless is our best defence. The decision we\ntook in 1948 reaffirmed our commitment to the higher principles of life. We\nembarked on the task to unlock the full potential of our citizens\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quoting from Bhgwad Gita, Ms Alvarez said\nthat we as teachers our role is to ignite students\u2019 mind with larger sense of\npurpose and focus. Raj Kumar<\/strong>\nsaid, \u201cJGU aspires to be a role model for institutional excellence in higher\neducation among leading institutions in the world as a multidisciplinary,\nresearch driven university fostering excellence in teaching, research,\ncommunity service, and capacity building and nurturing socially responsible\nleaders through an eclectic and sustainable approach serving the local and\nregional communities\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also expressed a sense of pride at being awarded the number 1\nrank at the recently held Swachhta rankings 2017, of all higher education\ninstitutions in India. O. P. Jindal Global University is recognised as the cleanest\nUniversity\/Higher Education Institution in India by the Government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further added that the university seeks to build bridges across\nnations, working with national, international, and governmental organisations,\nNGOs, and business organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JGU over the past eight years has established six schools: Jindal\nGlobal Law School (JGLS), Jindal Global Business School (JGBS), Jindal School\nof International Affairs (JSIA), Jindal School of Government and Public Policy\n(JSGP), Jindal School of Liberal Arts &amp; Humanities (JSLH), and Jindal\nSchool of Journalism &amp; Communication (JSJC). The schools offer\nundergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 3500 students with a faculty-student ratio of 1:13 and\noffering 15 programmes, the university has been setting examples of excellence\nin higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JGU\u2019s robust global partnerships are designed to create\nopportunities for students and faculty members to expand their learning and\nresearch horizons. Since 2009, JGU established more than 195 collaborations\nwith leading universities and institutions in more than 47 countries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The university also has 300 faculty members out of which 72% have\ndegrees from leading global institutions across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaborations take the form of faculty and student exchange\nprogrammes, joint research and publication activities, summer and winter\nschools, and dual degree programmes with institutions including Harvard, Yale,\nCornell, Columbia, Michigan etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sonipat, 30th September: O.
