Com. (Hons.) Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New Delhi, August 9, 2017<\/strong>: Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) has\nlaunched the B.Com. (Hons.) program in the presence of leading\nnames from industry and academia including Mr. Gaurav Vohra (Partner, KPMG),\nMr. Sanjay Gupta (President, ICAI), Mr. Shikhar Jain (Head, Sustainability,\nCII), Mr. Varun Jain, MD- Miles Education and Dr. Tapan K. Panda, Dean, JGBS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key distinguishing factors of the program are &#8211;\n100% industry integration including collaborations with KPMG and Institute of\nManagement Accountants (IMA), USA; three mandatory research and internship\nopportunities; and eight different specializations- Sales &amp; Marketing,\nAdvertising and Promotion, Financial Management, Personal Finance Planning,\nAuditing, Wealth Management, Entrepreneurship and General Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcoming\nthe first batch of B Com students, Vice Chancellor JGU, <strong>Professor (Dr) C Raj\nKumar<\/strong> said, \u201cIn&nbsp;JGU, it\u2019s our endeavour to build a broad foundation and\ncritical skillset necessary to succeed in a global environment. The program is\nan initiative in that.\nThe course program has a curriculum which is designed based on inputs from the\nindustry globally and hence has the content which will impart the student with\nthe latest knowledge and skills as per industry requirements. A very practical\noriented curriculum which does not encourage rote learning. This helps students\nimprove their application skills rather than just have theoretical knowledge\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new B. Com (H) program is designed to cater to the\nemerging needs of commerce education with a high level of industry relevance.\nKPMG India, IMA, USA and IBM India have played a strategic role in designing\nand delivering this course. Students of this program will be co-taught by the\nindustry and international partners as a part of course work. Students will be\neligible to appear for international CMA certification while doing this course.\nKPMG is going to teach 200 class hours and students will be part of their K-CAP\nprogram. While a normal B. Com (H) program opens limited job opportunities, the\nnew program has six career tracks in wealth management, certified financial\nplanning, insurance, advertising and sales, auditing and capital markets. The\nprogram is aimed at designing and delivering relevant content in the area of\nInternational Financial Reporting System, Global Accounting Standards, Digital\nFinance and Financial Technology. Students will work on various software\nplatforms and will be trained on various finance and stock market related\nsimulations so that they can be made industry ready as soon as they complete\nthe course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nDean of JGBS, <strong>Dr Tapan Panda<\/strong> is of the view that, \u201cSuch a program will\nbring paradigm shift in the way a commerce program in taught in India. True to\nits core of being a global business school, the program aims at training\nstudents in relevant and emerging disciplines and opening new areas of career\nopportunities. Students of this program can also join pathway programs of\npartner international universities in US, UK, Australia so that they not only\nget global exposure but also a global degree for them to work across different\ncountries\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor <strong>Ravi Agarwal<\/strong>\nabout the genesis of the B.Com. (Hons.) program. We have to make bosses out of you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program has been\ndesigned to offer students practical insight along with cutting edge classroom\nlearning experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mr. Shikhar Jain<\/strong>, Head, Sustainability,\nConfederation of Indian Industry(CII) focused on its importance: \u201cThe major difference between the Indian and\nforeign education systems is the latter\u2019s focus on practical application.\nUnderstand the practical applications of things that you learn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inaugural\nceremony was a great learning experience for the founding batch as they\nwitnessed industry and&nbsp;academia leaders engaging in a discussion on\n\u2018Innovative Management Control System for Effective Performance &amp;\nSustainability\u2019, moderated by Professor (Dr.) Pankaj Gupta, the panel\ndiscussion constituted ideal stimulation for students. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, August 9, 2017: Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) has launched the B.Com.
