JGBS Alumnus Makes a Smart Move, Which Pays Off with a ‘Smart’ and Successful Career
‘Keep your mind open to opportunities. They are closer than you think,’ goes the popular saying and it could well be the theme for Anindo’s story. A Jindal Global Business School graduate, who is making waves in driving innovative digital technology solutions for smart cities of the future.
Anindo had a unique start to his story, he came to O.P. Jindal Global University as a working professional and started his career in the admissions office as an Associate. It was the same time that the Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) had launched its interdisciplinary MBA programme. Anindo was keen on pursuing a global master’s programme and strengthening his career prospects, and the opportunity offered him both. Valuing skill over experience and with some encouragement from Naveen Jindal Young Global Leader Scholarship, the dynamic young business professional began his journey of transforming the smart cities landscape. Here he walks down memory lane and lets us in on his success story.
Being part of the first batch of students, it was only natural if Anindo felt uncertain at the beginning. But he says he was convinced about his decision, which has led to a rewarding career. “The MBA programme at JGBS helped me learn how to use the foundational knowledge in management and operations, and, apply that to real-world and complex projects,” he shares. For him, the first platform to showcase the skills he had learned came during his stint as Senior Consultant with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP.
Proving his mettle consistently with the corporate powerhouse, where he worked for four years, Anindo won partner recognition as the best performer. It also prompted his foray into the Smart City domain as a consultant and sales manager with the country’s leading brands like Tata Projects. He led their business development initiative for Smart Cities Business, which saw him working closely with various enterprises, central and state government agencies and departments, and foreign diplomatic missions.
In fact, Anindo was responsible for the planning and deployment of the first consumer Internet of Things (IoT) platform for Smart City use across India. It has pioneered the wave of ‘Smart Enterprise’ solutions for access control, security, IT policy enforcement, and smart campus solutions. He has led teams to implement technology projects in e-governance, public safety, and citizen engagement across the country. In his current role with another industry giant SAP, he leads the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region for the Future Cities Industries Business Unit.
In a short span of time, Anindo has developed expertise in various aspects of urban mobility like e-mobility, mobility as a service, and traffic management. He now shares his experience and insights with management students and professionals all over the country. In fact, he delivered the keynote address at the BASIC 2016 conference of the Smart City Summit. The leader in him has shone through his ‘Smart’ career so far, which began with his seizing the opportunity at JGBS.
Now with SAP, Anindo works on innovative digital technology solutions for smart cities of the future that aim to solve tough challenges faster and optimize liveability and prosperity by enabling digital transformation and providing accurate insights from the IoT and artificial intelligence.
