159 New Faculty Members join JGU

With the addition of the new faculty members, JGU has now 569 faculty members across eight schools. With the recruitment of this cohort of faculty members, JGU has achieved faculty-student ratio of 1:9.


69% of faculty members have international qualifications from the leading universities of the world such as the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, Columbia University, SOAS, Dalhousie University, University College London, University of Chicago, University of Warwick, Brown University, Indiana University, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, University of California-Berkeley, Tufts University, Queen Mary University of London, London School of Economics, University of Melbourne, University of Illinois, Cardiff University, Uppsala University, Utrecht University, University of Dublin, University of Kent, University of Buenos Aires, Leiden University, University of Vermont, University of Glasgow, Newcastle University, and Queensland University of Technology. Several of faculty members are graduates of the leading universities in India, including Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Delhi, University of Calcutta, Pune University, Banaras Hindu University, University of Bangalore, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Jamia Millia Islamia, IITs, IIMs, and NLSs etc. Also, 44% of faculty members hold Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degrees in their respective disciplines.


JGU’s focus on global orientation for promoting diversity is further strengthened from the fact that nearly 14% of full time faculty members are international, coming from 32 different countries/regions such as Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom, Ukraine and United States of America. 


Over 50% of the faculty members in JGU are women and nearly 40% of the leadership positions are held by women faculty members across all the schools of JGU. 57% of the new faculty members joining us in this semester are women.
